Build Trust.
Build Partnerships.
Build Teams.
Build Legacy.

The professionals who build lasting careers in this industry operate from a different set of principles than the ones most people learn on the job. Those principles are what Building Construction People is built to teach.
Learning Faster Than You Can Keep Up?
Promoted Into A Role Nobody Trained You For?
Holding The Center When Both Sides Look To You?

Whether you are just finding your footing, leading projects bigger than the last one, or sitting on the owner's side guiding decisions that shape institutions, I have been there. All three.
I started as the newest person in the room, where I learned how to build trust before I had a title. I spent years as a PM, where I built teams that delivered without burning each other out. And I have sat across the table as an Owner's Rep, where I built partnerships that turned single projects into long relationships and bigger contracts.
Building Construction People exists because all of that experience deserves to be in the hands of the people who need it. Whatever brought you here, you are in the right place.
For the leader who wants the full framework — trust, partnership, team development, and sustainable performance — grounded in real projects and real stories.
For the professional or organization ready to put the framework to work — self-paced courses with field assignments tied to your active project.
For decision makers responsible for outcomes who need a partner they can trust. Owner's representation, program oversight, and critical shutdowns from someone who has been on both sides of the table for 25 years.
Building Construction People exists because this industry is full of people who are excellent at the work — and underequipped for everything the work requires of them. That’s the gap we close.
The book is the foundation of everything else. Trust. Teams. Partnerships. Legacy. Each one is a chapter, each one is a discipline, each one drawn from twenty-five years of building hospitals, and the people who build them.
If you're ready to lead the way the best leaders in this industry actually lead, the framework is in the pages.

Real leadership in construction is part shepherd and part janitor: setting clear direction and making sure the team understands how their work connects to the larger goal, then clearing the obstacles, politics, and bureaucratic noise out of their way so they can do their best work. Add clear communication, sound decision-making, adaptability, and leading by example, and you have the core of it. None of it is innate. It's learned, usually the hard way, which is exactly why it can be taught deliberately instead of left to chance.
The shift I care about most isn't a technology trend, it's a mindset one: more leaders are starting to understand that their legacy isn't the buildings they complete, it's the people they develop. Buildings get renovated or torn down. The leaders you build carry the principles forward long after you're gone. That means teaching the leaders under you to be shepherds and janitors for their own teams, building systems that work without you in the room, and treating mentorship as a deliberate process instead of something left to chance. The organizations getting this right are training their next generation of leaders now, not waiting until someone retires to realize they didn't.
At the director level, the job shifts from doing the work to building the people who do the work. That takes the same fundamentals, communication, decision-making, accountability, applied at scale, plus three things that don't get talked about enough: the discipline to build systems that work without you in the room, the composure to lead transparently when something goes wrong instead of protecting yourself, and the sustainability to pace yourself for a career instead of grinding until you burn out. Directors who skip those last three eventually become the bottleneck instead of the multiplier.
We're not a general contractor. We're the person who has worked both sides of the table, as general contractor and later as owner's representative, managing more than a billion dollars in healthcare construction. That means we protect the owner's interest specifically, verify what gets built against what was specified, and bring real project data instead of relying on third-party estimating guides that run consistently low for healthcare work.
We provide Owner's Representation and Program Oversight for health systems, and we also work directly with general contractors, helping them pursue and deliver healthcare projects, and training their teams through the Building People Academy. Whichever side of the table you're on, the goal is the same: protect the program and develop the people delivering it.
Yes, we offer a free initial conversation to understand your project and determine whether we're the right fit. No obligation.
